Our Mission:
To assist
persons who are visually impaired to develop their capabilities to the
fullest and to utilize them in the pursuits of life that are the
right and privilege of all.
Who We Are:
Founded in
1946, The Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches is a
private, nonprofit organization providing
rehabilitation, community education and support services for
individulas age five or older, who are
blind, legally bind or significantly visually impaired. The
Lighthouse strives to provide the tools necessary for all people
with vision loss to mantain full and self-sufficient lives.
Services include: training in adaptive skills for performning
activities of daily living, Braille, Orientation and Mobility,
Low Vision Evaluations, Computer Instruction and Assistive
Technology, Counseling and much more.
Lighthouse services are free to
elegible persons. Our territoty include Palm Beach,
Martin, St. Lucie, Indian
River and
Okeechobee counties.
